‘Innovative and exciting geo-archaeological investigation’ is underway in central Winchester.
Archaeologists from the University of Winchester’s ARCA team have begun their work in central Winchester – commissioned to inform the plans for the development of the site known as the Central Winchester Regeneration (please see relevant post below with article included for further background detail).
In August, 14 geo-archaeological boreholes were drilled across the site and water monitoring from these boreholes will take place over the next year. The deposits recovered will help determine the history of the site and how it has developed.
